Cooking with Mum: Taiwanese Ginger Duck

Flavours | 3:06 mins

Yu Nu and her family moved to Singapore from Taiwan, Chiayi since 2004. Even though they rarely get to celebrate Lunar New Year back in their hometown, they still get to enjoy eating Ginger Duck – meant as a hot pot or soup base – as a must-eat New Year dish. Having learnt it from her mum, Yu Nu is now passing down this family recipe to her daughter.

Every Lunar New Year, Chinese families gather for reunion dinners – but these meals aren’t special just because of the food, but the people you eat with. This New Year, we discover how different Chinese diasporas in Singapore celebrate the festival. Watch this mother-daughter pair prepare Ginger duck (or chicken), a traditional Taiwanese dish.
