Fitri, a Singaporean studying medicine in Wuhan, first heard about several ‘atypical pneumonia’ cases being reported in the city’s hospitals. This was before COVID-19 was identified.

As the situation escalated, he spent 10 days alone in his apartment before boarding the first evacuation flight back to Singapore on 30 Jan. After landing, he stayed at a quarantine site for another 14 days.
