But for Kejen, Mount Vernon’s last caretaker, it brought him peace and serves as a constant reminder to live a more fulfilling life. Mount Vernon was Singapore’s first state-run crematorium. After a 56-year run, It was closed on 30 Sept 2018. The site will make way for new homes, the future Bidadari Park and a new funeral parlour.
