Yi bua is a traditional Hainanese kueh made of glutinous rice flour kueh and filled with a coconut, ginger, sesame and peanut filling, sweetened with gula melaka.

It is not as popular as ang ku kueh or kueh lapis, which is why it is not commonly known or enjoyed. But for this family, the yi bua kueh has seen them through generations of hardship.
